Reprieve

Could you ever forgive me?
Will you forget what I did to you?
Can you ever forgive me for troubling you so?
For destroying your life the way I did?
Would you find the will to smile and say “you are forgiven”?
Forget the past?

As we go along separate paths,
Your forgiveness is one thing I beg for
To set my conscience free
To ease the guilt and pain

Never forget this:
I still care about you
I do, truly I do!

The pattern continues, no? I told you. Thinking that maybe you should employ your great talent by exploring wider themes.

aouch...

these are lines that one hardly hears these days...

i can feel it coming from deep...that's what happens when the words are just true you can't twist them!

After you leave, I will become a tree
Alone on a hillside, loving wind and sun,
Waiting for you to return home to me
Though centuries of lonely stars may run.
I'll grow tall and give lots of shade,
Sheltering birds and other bright-eyed things.
Pleased with all the progress that I've made,
I'll spread my leafy branches out like wings.

But oh! Every moment of every day
I'll miss you with the passion of the wind,
Gazing endlessly upon the way
That without you must empty, empty wind.

Please tell me: Is there some reward for loving?
As far as I can see, it can't be pleasure.
Unquenchable, it drinks up all one's leisure,
Lapping the sweet goodness from the stone
As life in all its beauty passes on.
